Registration Process

Purpose

To register a student / staff member for access to our HPC cluster.

Students are not permitted to register themselves. Registration must be completed by their supervising staff member.

Procedure

1. The supervisor creates a ticket at TOPDESK using the form: FSE CSlab resources - Access request. We need the following information:
   • Canvas Full Name of the user
   • Student I-number or staff P-number
   • Canvas Course ID
   • End date
2. Once the registration has been completed:
   • The user will receive an email containing a link to the user portal.
   • The user must activate their account through the portal.
   • The user must upload their public SSH key in the portal.
3. After the account has been activated and the public SSH key has been uploaded, the user can log in to the login node using SSH. ssh <inumber>@dacsgpu0001.fse-cslab.nl

IMPORTANT

Your SSH key pair

• should be cryptographically strong: ed25519 is preferred
• should be generated on a PERSONAL device to which only you have access.
• you MUST protect the private key with a passphrase. Use at least 15 characters

Account Expiration and Renewal

• User accounts remain active until the specified registration end date.
• After the end date has passed, the account will be disabled and the user will no longer be able to log in.
• After 30 days, the account and remaining data are permanently removed.
• Access can be renewed by the supervisor creating a ticket at TOPDESK using the form: FSE CSlab resources - report a problem or ask a question.
• The renewal request must include:
  • User's full name
  • Canvas Course ID
  • New registration end date
